Reflections on 40 years as a Huber Astrologer - Part 3

My personal reflections this time will take a look at what was going on, Astrological Psychology-wise, in the UK and overseas in the 1980s and on into the early1990s.

Tutoring students by correspondence for the English Huber School since 1987, I was enjoying the additional opportunities that came my way in the form of invitations to speak to local groups, run workshops, travelling around the UK to do this, and eventually going overseas as a speaker as well.

Bruno and Louise had already been to the US in 1978 to speak at the American Federation of Astrology congress; Pam Tyler - a US citizen living in London - had heard them speak, and was instrumental in introducing Astrological Psychology to astrologers in London in the early 1980s. In effect, Pam brought Huber astrology to the UK, and introduced it to astrologer Richard Llewellyn, who heard her talk in London. This resulted in the English Huber School being founded by Pam and Richard on 8th June 1983. You can read about it here.

With Pam Tyler and student, Miami University

In the Spring of 1989 I had my first "big gig" in the US, joining co-founder of the English Huber School, Pam, to run an introductory residential workshop on the Huber Method at Miami University in Florida. Richard Llewellyn, then the School's Principal, was unable to go and asked me to take his place. I'd not met Pam before but we clicked immediately and worked well together, sharing our experience of the work of the Hubers to a keen and interested group. 36 years later, we are still firm friends.

In October 1989, the English Huber School held the first of many 3-day intensive training workshops, setting a precedent  for this annual event, which became part of the English Huber School's Diploma syllabus. The workshops were called Face to Face, and were held first, in Devon, then in the Brecon Beacons in Wales.

I was involved in organising these workshops, teaching and facilitating sessions at these events. In 1990 I was invited to teach at an English speaking residential workshop with the Hubers in Achberg, Germany.

With Bruno & Louise, Froebel College

Bruno and Louise came to the UK several times to teach and personally assess the English School's Diploma students. The first of these seminars was held at Froebel College in London; later seminars were at the Beacon Centre, near Exeter and Buckland Hall in Wales. They brought together students of the English School from the UK as well as overseas students and were always very special events.

Watch our for Part 4 - there's more to come!
