A Collective Act of Goodwill

Keeping the Dream Alive (feat. The Rock Choir Members, The Rock Choir Vocal Group & Caroline Redman Lusher)

I'm bursting with pride to have taken part in making this recording, released today. 4,550 members of Rock Choir recorded themselves remotely, singing "Keeping the Dream Alive" then took a photo of themselves and sent it off to some tech wizards to create this recording in time for Christmas.

The aim is to raise money for the Mental Health Foundation, and get into the Christmas charts - maybe you can help us?! You can listen to us and watch the video here.

Technology Novices many us Rockies (as we call ourselves) may have been back in March when lockdown started. But Rock Choir went on line, rehearsals became Zoom sessions, and we learned new techniques, new songs, laughed a lot and rose to several challenges along the way.

In October, we were offered the opportunity of taking part in this Christmas single charity project, so it was a "simple" (haha!) matter of recording ourselves singing in our specific voice part (I sing Lower Soprano) while being conducted on screen and listening to the backing track. What comes out at the end is blended with all the other voices and a wonderful sound is created by the techie wizards.

Being part of this collective act of goodwill at this time of year, and in aid of a significantly important charity - especially during these Covid-dark times - has a very high feelgood factor for those who took part. I hope the song will have a similar effect on those who listen to it and who might remember it from back in 1988.

Goodwill is a transpersonal quality - something which it's not always easy to describe but you know it when you see or experience it as it's often accompanied by feelings of warmth, happiness and joy.

Inclusivity is another transpersonal quality; no-one is left out, everyone contributes to the whole and has a part to play, bringing with them their own strengths and enthusiam.

Both of these qualities - and probably more - were around in the making of this single. Please give it a hearing and a viewing & if you like it you can buy it too, knowing that you're making a gesture of goodwill for mental health.
